McCoun Tomahawks specializes in producing traditional style tomahawks to fit a wide range of uses. We have chosen 4140 for our steel type because of its chromium and carbon content making it an excellent choice for heavy use high impact tools.
This Tomahawk has a slot at the top of the handle with a hammer wedge inside. The wedge can be driven in further with a square punch should the head become loose on the handle.
Specifications:
The Head of this tomahawk is pinned onto the handle, this prevents the head from sliding down the handle if the handle shrinks.

This war hammer is possibly a hand and a half weapon. It is quite heavy up top and requires somewhat different mechanics than a lighter tomahawk. It is a fearsome weapon for self defense if you have good upper body strength. Altogether a fine tool and a great piece of artisanship.

Fearsome
Just thinking about being on the wrong end of this weapon is a fearsome proposition. I've seen some demos on medieval war hammers. They inflicted devastating injuries. This is a different weapon but highly effective. I'm gonna get another one but with a 22" handle. Mr. Mc Coun is a very fine craftsman.

One Of A Kind
You have to have this in your hands to appreciate it. It is fearsome and beautiful at the same time. The balance is excellent. It isn't light in the hand, but it is agile in the hand and will cause catastrophic damage. It is much different than the other tomahawks I've owned. You're going g back to medieval Europe when armies needed something that would defeat plate armor and the war hammer did the trick. I highly recommend Mr. Mc Couns war hammer for your arsenal.

I just wanted to add a ps. This hammer is fearsome. Swung properly, it is almost impossible to block and will certainly do terminal damage. It is not only beautifully crafted, but in the right hands it is a highly effective weapon.

This war hammer is awesome. It WELL exceeds expectations. The head is much heavier than I thought it would be and ti is very well balanced. The hickory shaft is perfectly shaped to the hand and the paranoid adds extra grip. This is not only a great weapon but it is also something that I will hand down to my grandchildren. I highly recommend Mr. Mc Coun and his wonderful creations.
